Ghost School - St Joseph’s College School

Ghost School, 2018

St Joseph’s College School

Ghost School

If one stands in front of St. Joseph’s College School at 74 Wellesley Street West and looks across the street, one sees a complex of massive government towers built in the early 1960s. The present St. Joseph’s College School location was also built at that time.

But 100 years ago, the site of that complex of government buildings was the original school’s location: a school founded on principles of social justice by the Sisters of St. Joseph, a group that believed it was important to educate young women.

For Nuit Blanche Toronto, after sunset and into the early hours of the next day, St. Joseph’s will relive the past. Images of moments that connect with the school’s history and with Toronto’s early development will be projected onto the site of its old structure. A ghost school shall rise on September 29th.

St. Joseph’s College School is a high school with the Toronto Catholic District School Board.
