Artscape Youngplace

Koffler Gallery

Artscape Youngplace returns to Nuit Blanche Toronto hosting a number of projects from across the city. The creative community hub will also feature the Koffler Gallery exhibition Yonder, located in the Koffler Gallery and throughout the Artscape Youngplace Hallway Galleries and stairwells.

Exploring themes of intercultural translation, displacement and identity construction, Yonder brings together a group of Canadian artists of diverse cultural backgrounds whose works examine the immigrant condition.

Comprising recent and new works in a variety of media, including site-specific installations developed for the context of this exhibition, Yonder approaches the notion of immigration through a process of “personal sociology,” moving from an investigation of subjective inquiries to larger questions and shared experiences. As first or second generation Canadians, the artists draw upon their own narratives while inviting responses based on commonalities and differences.

The space is also thrilled to welcome back Expect Theatre's emerging inter-arts ensemble for performances in SKETCH.

Artscape Youngplace is a community cultural hub in Toronto's West Queen West neighbourhood, devoted to artistic creation, learning, and collaboration.
